In the Book of Mormon we read that Jacob admonished and warned the people against every kind of sin and told them the consequences they would suffer if they did not repent. He could not write a hundredth part of the proceedings because they were so numerous. Jacob 3:12-14 "And now I, Jacob, spake many more things unto the people of Nephi, warning them against fornication and lasciviousness, and every kind of sin, telling them the awful consequences of them. And a hundredth part of the proceedings of this people, which now began to be numerous, cannot be written upon these plates; but many of their proceedings are written upon the larger plates, and their wars, and their contentions, and the reigns of their kings. These plates are called the plates of Jacob, and they were made by the hand of Nephi. And I make an end of speaking these words."
In the Old Testament we read a psalm of thanksgiving and praise to the Lord. We need to seek the Lord and be mindful of the covenants we have made with Him. 1 Chronicles 16:8-15 "Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth; O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones. He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth. Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;:
A verse with a thought booklet tells us not to be afraid or dismayed, but to be strong and courageous, for the Lord will be with us wherever we go. What a comforting thought! There is no need to be cowardly, even when facing the unknown, because the most powerful force in the universe is guiding us. Joshua 1:9 "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
