In the Book of Mormon we read that Zeniff contended with his brethren about whether or not the Lamanites should be destroyed. Zeniff wanted to make a treaty with them, but those who were blood thirsty wanted to kill them. Family members fought against each other. Zeniff and some of the survivors were traveling in the wilderness but were smitten with famine and afflictions because they were slow to remember the Lord. When we don't keep the commandments, we cannot expect the blessings of the Lord. Mosiah 9:2-4 "Therefore, I contended with my brethren in the wilderness, for I would that our ruler should make a treaty with them; but he being an austere and a blood-thirsty man commanded that I should be slain; but I was rescued by the shedding of much blood; for father fought against father, and brother against brother, until the greater number of our army was destroyed in the wilderness; and we returned, those of us that were spared, to the land of Zarahemla, to relate that tale to their wives and their children. And yet, I being over-zealous to inherit the land of our fathers, collected as many as were desirous to go up to possess the land, and started again on our journey into the wilderness to go up to the land; but we were smitten with famine and sore afflictions; for we were slow to remember the Lord our God. Nevertheless, after many days' wandering in the wilderness we pitched our tents in the place where our brethren were slain, which was near to the land of our fathers."
In the Old Testament David asked the question who will dwell in the Lord's holy hill? The answer is the righteous, the upright, and those with integrity. Psalms 15:1-3 "Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us to do when we're overcome by fear and anxiety. I we seek the Lord, He will hear us and deliver us from all our fears. Psalms 34:4 "I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."
