In the Book of Mormon we read that there was again peace in the land. Zeniff made all kinds of weapons of war so they could defend themselves if the Lamanites again attacked them. And he set guards around the land. They raised crops and worked to make their clothing. They lived in peace like this for 22 years. Mosiah 10:1-5 "And it came to pass that we again began to establish the kingdom and we again began to possess the land in peace. And I caused that there should be weapons of war made of every kind, that thereby I might have weapons for my people against the time the Lamanites should come up again to war against my people. And I set guards round about the land, that the Lamanites might not come upon us again unawares and destroy us; and thus I did guard my people and my flocks, and keep them from falling into the hands of our enemies. And it came to pass that we did inherit the land of our fathers for many years, yea, for the space of twenty and two years. And I did cause that the men should till the ground, and raise all manner of grain and all manner of fruit of every kind. And I did cause that the women should spin, and toil, and work, and work all manner of fine linen, yea, and cloth of every kind, that we might clothe our nakedness; and thus we did prosper in the land—thus we did have continual peace in the land for the space of twenty and two years."
In the Old Testament we read that the Lord will hear our prayers. If our heart trusts in Him, He will help us strengthen us, and be our shield. Psalms 28:6-7 "Blessed be the Lord, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us that Abraham was willing to go to a strange land that he did not know, because he had faith to obey the Lord. We don't always know what our future holds, and we don't always know the steps we'll need to take to get there. But if we have faith and are willing t trust in the Lord, He will guide us to where we need to be. Even though we might like to see our path clearly laid out in front of us, sometimes we need to take some steps out into the darkness, trusting that the Lord will light our way before us as we go. Hebrews 11:8 "By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went."
