Daily Thoughts

In the Old Testament I read that we should depart from evildoers and keep the commandments of God. How much easier is it to keep the commandments when we choose righteous companions? Ps. 119: 115 "Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God."

In the Book of Mormon Isaiah is quoted with a prophecy about Jesus being born. These are familiar words which were set to music in Handel's Messiah. 2 Ne. 19: 6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

Some verses with a thought booklet tell us to set our affections on things above, not on things of the earth, if we expect to be risen with Christ. Where do we really place our heart--on the Lord or on worldly things? Col. 3: 1-2 " If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth."
