In the Old Testament I read that children are a heritage from the Lord and happy is the man who has his quiver full of them. Ps. 127: 3-5 "Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate."
In the Book of Mormon I read that even though the words of Isaiah are difficult to understand for most people, they are plain to people who have the spirit of prophecy. This makes me realize that I need to seek the Lord's help to understand what Isaiah is trying to say, because I confess I have a great deal of difficulty understanding him. But they are of much value and worth and we need to try to make the effort to gain from them what the Lord would have us know. 2 Ne. 25: 1, 4 "Now I, Nephi, do speak somewhat concerning the words which I have written, which have been spoken by the mouth of Isaiah. For behold, Isaiah spake many things which were hard for many of my people to understand; for they know not concerning the manner of prophesying among the Jews. Wherefore, hearken, O my people, which are of the house of Israel, and give ear unto my words; for because the words of Isaiah are not plain unto you, nevertheless they are plain unto all those that are filled with the spirit of prophecy. But I give unto you a prophecy, according to the spirit which is in me; wherefore I shall prophesy according to the plainness which hath been with me from the time that I came out from Jerusalem with my father; for behold, my soul delighteth in plainness unto my people, that they may learn."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us that hills can melt like wax before the presense of the Lord. Do we ever feel like our problems and trials are like mountains--huge, strong, firm and immovable? Let's remember that in the presense of the all-powerful Lord they can melt like wax. We just need to trust in Him and turn our mountainous troubles over to Him. Ps. 97: 5 "The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth."
