Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon I read that Lehi also prophesied that after the Messiah should come into the world, the unbelieving Jews would slay Him and he would rise from the dead and be resurrected. 1 Ne. 10: 11 "And it came to pass after my father had spoken these words he spake unto my brethren concerning the gospel which should be preached among the Jews, and also concerning the dwindling of the Jews in unbelief. And after they had slain the Messiah, who should come, and after he had been slain he should rise from the dead, and should make himself manifest, by the Holy Ghost, unto the Gentiles."

In the New Testament the Kingdom of God is compared to a mustard seed. When it is first sown, it is very small. But it grows into a mighty plant. When the church was first organized, it had 6 members. Look how it has grown into millions of members all over the world now! Mark 4:30-32 "And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us that it is only because of the Lord's mercy that we are not consumed. His compassion towards us never fails. Lamentations 3:22 "It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not."
