Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon I read a verse that really condemns liars. It says they will be thrust down to hell! And notice it doesn't distinguish between little white lies and worse lies. It just says liars will be thrust down to hell. Very important that we be honest in all our dealings. 2 Ne. 9: 34 "Wo unto the liar, for he shall be thrust down to hell."

In the New Testament I read wonderful instructions on how we should deal with other people. We should love them, be kind to them, and do our best to get along with them. If they treat us unkindly, we should still do whatever we can to help them. Instead of letting evil overcome us, we should overcome evil with good. Romans 12:9-21 "Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."

A verse from a thought booklet is a comfort to me, and should be a comfort to anyone who has lost a loved one. Christ was raised from the dead, will never die again, and death has no more dominion over Him. And because He was resurrected, we and all our loved ones will be resurrected also. Death will have no power over any of us. Romans 6:9 "Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him."
