Daily Thoughts Saturday

In the Book of Mormon I read that Alma taught the people that they should
not trust anyone to be their teacher or minister unless he is a man of God
who keeps the commandments. He also taught them that they should love
their
neighbors as themselves and have no contention among them. These are
things
we all need to abide by. Mosiah 23:14-15 "And also trust no one to be
your
teacher nor your minister, except he be a man of God, walking in his ways
and keeping his commandments. Thus did Alma teach his people, that every
man
should love his neighbor as himself, that there should be no contention
among them."

In the Old Testament I read about how Jacob and his family went to Egypt to
be with Joseph so he could take care of them during the remainder of the
famine. Genesis 46:5-7 "And Jacob rose up from Beer-sheba: and the sons of
Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives,
in
the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him. And they took their cattle,
and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into
Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him: His sons, and his sons' sons with
him, his daughters, and his sons' daughters, and all his seed brought he
with
him into Egypt."

Some verses with a thought booklet admonish us to bear our suffering
patiently, even when it seems unfair and undeserved. We need to remember
the
example of Jesus Christ who was totally innocent in yet He bore our sins
with
His stripes. When we're called upon to bear the pain of unjust suffering,
we
need to remember Him and His perfect example. 1 Peter 2:19-25 "For this is
thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering
wrongfully. For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults,
ye
shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye
take it
patiently, this is acceptable with God. For even hereunto were ye called:
because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should
follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
Who,
when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened
not;
but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self
bare
our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should
live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as
sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of
your
souls."
