Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that no unclean thing can enter the Kingdom of Heaven.  We need to repent and come unto Christ, be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost, so we can stand spotless before the Lord at the last day.  3 Nephi 27:19-20 "And no unclean thing can enter into his kingdom; therefore nothing entereth into his rest save it be those who have washed their garments in my blood, because of their faith, and the repentance of all their sins, and their faithfulness unto the end. Now this is the commandment: Repent, all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me and be baptized in my name, that ye may be sanctified by the reception of the Holy Ghost, that ye may stand spotless before me at the last day."

In the Old Testament we read that when the men of war put their trust in the Lord and cried out to Him, He helped them and delivered their enemies into their hands.  If we put our trust in the Lord and pray to Him for help, He will come to our aid.  1 Chronicles 5:18-20 "The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, were four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore, that went out to the war. And they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Nephish, and Nodab. And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him."

One of my cats has a habit of standing off at a distance from me and yowling his head off.  It took me a while to realize that all he wanted was attention.  But no amount of me beckoning him to come to me nor saying "shut up" can stop him from yowling.  I have to go where he is and pet him.  That shuts up his yowls and starts his purrs.  What a silly cat!  One day I said to him, "You are a ridiculous cat.  Instead of standing far off and yowling, why don't you simply come to me?  I'd give you the attention you want if you'd just come to me!"  Then it hit me.  Maybe this is how the Lord feels.  He is constantly saying "Come to me!"  But often we stand aloof from Him and yowl our heads off complaining.  Silly people! Matthew 11:28-30 "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
