Daily Thoughts

In the D&C we read that we must be diligent in heeding the words of the Lord.  We should live by every word that proceeds forth from the mouth of God.  D&C 84:43-44 "And I now give unto you a commandment to beware concerning yourselves, to give diligent heed to the words of eternal life. For you shall live by every word that proceedeth forth from the mouth of God."

In the Old Testament we read that the Lord commanded Ezekiel to make known to Jerusalem all her abominations.  In order for people to repent, the first thing they need to do is to become aware that they are sinning.  Ezekiel 16:1-2 "Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations,"

In some verses with a thought booklet we read advice that we should not weary ourselves just to become wealthy.  When we set our eyes on worldly wealth, our riches can fly away like they have wings.  Money can come and go and is of no lasting eternal value.  Instead of placing our hearts on worldly gain, let's place our affections on the things of God.  Proverbs 23:4-5 "Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven."
