Daily Thoughts

In the P of GP we read that the work and glory of God is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.  We, the children of God, are of great value and importance to Him.  Moses 1:39 "For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man."

In the New Testament we read that we should search the scriptures for they testify of Christ and in them we'll gain the faith to have eternal life.  John 5:39 "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

A verse with a thought booklet says that we can devise many plans in our hearts, but we need to counsel with the Lord and let His will stand.  It's fine to make plans, but sometimes the Lord has other ideas.  Maybe we've planned a day of running errands and getting some shopping done.  Then we get a phone call from a sick friend who needs us to take them to the doctor. All our well laid plans have to be put on the back burner while we take care of emergency needs.  Or perhaps we plan for enjoyable retirement years where we can travel with our spouse and have fun. Then we receive a call to serve a mission and our retirement years take on a whole new purpose as we serve the Lord.  Or perhaps our spouse becomes ill and needs our constant care, or they die and leave us alone.  We can make plans all we want, but we never know what turns our lives will take and we always need to be open to whatever the Lord has in store for us.  Proverbs 19:21 "There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand."
